Our experience

We built our first theater last summer for a summer camp. 2020 was a very difficult year and we really wanted kids to have fun. We wanted to entertain them and find a way to teach them important things while playing. The topic of the day was: Coexisting with elephants. We had a story, an issue and some characters they could play. So, we decided to build our theater and let them enjoy themselves.

To make sure that everyone had a part we wrote the text so that some kids could read it while the others moved the characters in the theater. Everything turned out so funny, they’ll sure remember it!

What do you need?

  • Thick cardboard
  • Colored cardboards
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • A ruler
  • Paint
  • Wooden sticks
  • Patience and time
  • A place where you can be a little messy

And… A story to tell!

And this is how your home will look like!

Why is this a very effective way of teaching?

  • The activity allows students to be the protagonists of the subject matter.
  • It’s the kids who tell the study topic so they are much more into it.
  • Images have mnemonic advantages: provide visual cues to retrieve factual information.
  • A story, told in this way, shows the steps/changes of an object in space and time and, again, it help to memorize.
  • The attention last much longer
  • The amount of information is reduced and kids can remember just the most important once.
  • And most important: IT’S FUN

A little help to build your theater.
