2020 won’t be an easy year to remember. It is a tough year but we wanted to be tougher and we decided to focus our energy on a very ambitious communication project: “Coexistence.life: Cartoline per la Coesistenza”.
More than ever we are now learning the importance of coexistence. The situation we are living is one of the main consequences of the Human – Nature relationship, a relationship that is clearly not working. If we want a better well-fare, economy and health, we have to put all our effort in finding a way to promote the balance between Human activities and Nature.
The project: “Coexistence.life: Cartoline per la Coesistenza” is a PAMS Foundation project (https://pamsfoundation.org/) in collaboration with Trento Film Festival (https://trentofestival.it/en) and Istituto Oikos (https://www.istituto-oikos.org/en) with the contribution of Fondazione Caritro (https://www.fondazionecaritro.it/).
The aim of the project is to promote an intergenerational dialog on human-wildlife coexistence. Jung generation have to bring a message to their citizens, trying to reach as many people as possible.
The high-schools’ kids of Liceo Scientifico Galileo Galilei of Trento, Liceo delle arti di Trento e Rovereto “Vittoria-Bonporti-Depero” of Rovereto and Istituto Comprensivo Ladino di Fassa, Scola Ladina de Fascia of Pozza di Fassa are the main actors of this pilot project.
Thanks to Trento Film Festival we were able to choose from multiple documentaries and select two out of them: we picked one about Wolves (L’aritmetica del lupo) and one about Bears (Living with wildlife). Watching these movies is the first step of the project. They are the guidance to start sharing ideas and considerations about human-wildlife coexistence. Expert of cinema, zoology and communication will take the students through this complex path and help them make up their mind. At the end of the path they will be able to elaborate their message and to translate it in an image to be delivered to their community.
In this project, the students with their images and thoughts will be professional communicators with the following goals:
- To raise awareness for coexistence between humans and bears/wolves
- Make up their own mind with scientific information and discussions
- To identify new ways to make coexistence possible and promote them
- To help the community in finding the right choice to improve the coexistence
All the work they’ll produce will be displayed in a special exhibition in Trento during the 2020 Trento Film Festival. The best ones will be revised by a professional graphic designer and turned in postcards.
